Prof. Herpers takes off - experiments under micro gravity

A300_Steilflug200Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Herpers of the Department of Computer Science of Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences will today, February 14, 2012, take off on an ESA mikrogravity-flight.

A parabolic flight simulates lunar gravity: the aircraft climbs up steeply from horizontal flight, throttles the turbines and flies a parable thereby creating microgravity for about 22 seconds.

The experiment is being conducted in cooperation with the German Sport University Cologne and the DLR Space Administration. It researches the effects of weightlessness and gravity on humans and in  particular cognitive phenomena in the context of the socalled simulator sickness.
